Media Training Seminars Individual or Small Groups

Opening

OUR VISION- What we will try to achieve over the course. What's coming up. Making the best of yourself. De-mystifying the myths of the media industry and how it relates to you and making it work for YOU and your organisation.

First Interview Session

TV TRAINING - This is so often the steepest learning curve of all as you see yourself on TV for the first time and analysing what you are doing right and wrong. This interview May be not too challenging, but you will realise it is not only what you say that has impact, but it is also what you look like. It could be sitting down or standing up replicating what will occur in the real situation. The trainers will guide you through our comprehensive review of each and every interview.

All kinds of Media

TELEVISION - In a formal setting, it nearly always takes priority over radio and newspaper interviews. They usually prefer 10-20 second clips.
RADIO - Will usually be pre-recorded. You may not be seen, so words, pitch, tone and volume are even more important. 20 to 30 second clips are the norm.
NEWSPAPERS - They need quotes, but try using some positive spin. Techniques for making them print what you want!
INTERNET/EMAIL - A new opportunity, but with different rules.

Crisis Management

A mishandled crisis can severely damage your business. Handle it in a well-prepared media savvy manner, and your business could even become stronger. We advise on handling the media in all its different areas, retrieving lost ground, and running an efficient and responsive management team.

Coffee/Tea Break

Video Session

TV TRAINING - Learning with the aid of video. We play video clips of some high profile people being interviewed - each with a specific message. You will see ones that are good…..and others that are not so good.

Image/Presentation

MAKING THE RIGHT IMPRESSION - The first impression you make on camera is probably the most vital. As an important organisation representative you have an obligation to create the right image, as well as being professional and an ambassador.

IMAGE - Can be everything - and it is not necessarily always business-suit or pearl necklace and designer clothes. Image is an important element to getting your non-verbal message across.

Second Interview Session

THE INTERVIEWS - Make your mistakes with us - not when it REALLY matters. This is as near as you will get to replicating the real thing. They will be as "real-life" situations that may well come up soon. A chance to put into practice what has been learned. The interview could be standing or sitting, lasting 3 minutes approximately - but it could well seem a lot longer to those involved! Everyone will take part.watching the other person before its their turn. The next step in building confidence in front of the media.

THE DEBRIEF - Everyone will learn from each other during this session.

Review and final questions

LESSONS - What have we learned? A brief revisit of the key points and reminder of the most important things to take away. Practice is vital. Embrace the interview - don't think of it as a threat. It is an opportunity to put YOUR message across. Each trainee will receive a full written review of their performance with interview tips for the future, as part of the quoted seminar cost.
